Anne Dawson
BScPT, CAFCI, Shanghai International College of Acupuncture, Certificate in Part A Manual Therapy, Certified Stott Pilates Instructor Trainer, Craniosacral Therapist
Anne is a practicing physiotherapist with extensive training in many varied acupuncture approaches and techniques from its classical roots and traditions to contemporary usage of detailed anatomical and applied scientific knowledge. She has participated in teaching introductory and advanced acupuncture techniques to other medical professionals for over twenty years. She has extensive training in a variety of manual therapy and mobilization techniques, and is a fully trained and certified Stott Pilates Instructor and Instructor Trainer for Adapted Rehab Exercise for Injuries and Special Populations.
Anne’s clinical physiotherapy practice at Fitness Physiotherapy in Winnipeg utilizes acupuncture, manual therapy, craniosacral therapy, neuromobilizations, manual neurofascial and myofascial release techniques and adapted Pilates exercise to help rehabilitate and recondition a wide range of chronic musculoskeletal and painful situations to a varied population.
Dr. Barbara Shay
BMR.PT, PhD (neurophysiology), CAFCI, Associate Professor at University of Manitoba School of Medical Rehabilitation
Barbara has been a practicing physiotherapist for over 25 years. She continued her academic education and completed her MSc in Rehabilitation in 1993; "Assessment of Upper Limb Strength and Exercise Performance in Quadriplegics" and her PhD in Neurophysiology in 2003; "Serotonin 5-HT2 Receptors and Mechanisms of Long-Term Modulation of Spinal Reflex Strength". Her current research interests revolve around pain assessment and treatment.
Barbara has been teaching in the Physical Therapy program at the University of Manitoba, since 1991. Her current teaching includes Electrophysical Agents in Rehabilitation, Manual Therapy Effects on Pain in the entry level Physical Therapy Program, and Pain and Rehabilitation in the graduate program. She has had extensive training in research and androgogy (adult teaching) and focuses on the contemporary usage of detailed anatomical and applied scientific knowledge in using acupuncture. She has participated in teaching introductory and advanced acupuncture techniques to other medical professionals for over twenty years.
Anastasia Meseman
BMR.PT, A&S Acupuncture Certification, Craniosacral Therapist and Stott Rehab Pilates trained
Anastasia is a practicing physiotherapist, working in private practice in Winnipeg. She has trained extensively in many styles of acupuncture useage. She uses acupuncture extensively in conjunction with manual, cranial sacral, manual neurofascial and myofascial release techniques, and Pilates exercise in the treatment of acute and chronic pain, spinal conditions, and other complex musculoskeletal dysfunctions. She has served as an examiner for the Physiotherapy Competency exam, as a sessional lecturer of Physiotherapy at the University of Manitoba, as an executive member of the physiotherapy division of the Canadian Lung Association, as well as a member of several professional committees on behalf of the College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba.

Dr. Susan Shefchyk
PhD. (neurophysiology), Professor at University of Manitoba Department of Physiology
Susan’s neurophysiology work has been in basic spinal cord research and teaching. She has many years experience teaching at the University of Manitoba in preclinical neurology to medical students; sensory systems, consciousness and sleep, and autonomic nervous system function to the Physician Assistant students; and basic neurophysiology to the pharmacy students. She has been a long time fan of acupuncture, and has shared the substantiating science to support the application of acupuncture treatment with the students' of Acupuncture: The Art and the Science for more than fifteen years. More recently, she has earned a Masters of Theological Studies from the Newman Theological College in Spirituality.
Dr. Eduardo Baretto
MD (Columbia), Acupuncturist & Alternative Health Consultant at the Aspen Clinic in Winnipeg
Eduardo is a licensed physician in South America. After graduating from medical school in Cali, Colombia, he completed two years residency in alternative medicine, followed by a year’s apprenticeship with an experienced physician and alternative medical practitioner. During the next fifteen years in Cali, his private practice combined traditional and complementary medicine that incorporated the best and most indicated treatments from various alternative modalities, including acupuncture techniques and homeopathy. During this time, he participated in teaching acupuncture techniques to other Colombian physicians. Now that he lives in Winnipeg with his family, he continues to use his skills as an alternative practitioner utilizing acupuncture and homeopathy in his private practice at the Aspen clinic.
Silvia Lavallée
BMR.PT, Animal Acupuncturist & Rehab Therapist, A&S Acupuncture Certification
Sil is a trained physiotherapist, working as an animal acupuncturist in private practice in Winnipeg. She has been trained and licensed in acupuncture since 1986, and has extensive continuing education in orthopaedics, the Norwegian Exercise Methods, Reiki and Acupuncture. After the turn of the century, Sil moved into spending most of her professional time doing acupuncture and rehab with animals. She has trained in canine and equine acupuncture, rehab and sports medicine techniques all over North America. She practices her animal therapies out of two Veterinarian offices in Winnipeg and on her multitude of pets at home.
Evelyn Lightly
BMR.PT, MClSc, FCAMPT, A&S Acupuncture Certification
Evelyn is a practicing physiotherapist at St. Vital Physiotherapy in Winnipeg. She has studied extensively in the areas of acupuncture, manual and manipulative therapy and myofascial techniques. She has earned certifications in Advanced Manipulative Therapy (spinal and peripheral manipulation) and Acupuncture with various instructors and programs. She received a Masters of Clinical Science from the University of Western Ontario in 2011. Evelyn has instructed as both a lecturer and a lab assistant and has also acted as an examiner in the University of Manitoba undergraduate Physiotherapy program since 1997. She is involved with post-graduate instruction and examination for the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. She is also regularly involved with teaching acupuncture in the Acupuncture: The Art and the Science courses.
Andrea Lehenbauer
HB Kin, BScPT, A&S Acupuncture Certification
Andrea is a practicing physiotherapist, working in private practice in southern rural Manitoba. She treats clients of all ages through the continuum of care with a special interest in helping people regain or gain health and wellness goals. Her training, with degrees in kinesiology and physiotherapy, acupuncture certificates from various instructors in various styles of acupuncture, manual orthopaedic therapy certificate from Curtin University in Perth, Australia, and being a trained Stott Pilates Instructor, make her a diversified practitioner and presenter for Acupuncture: The Art and The Science.
Janine Didyk
BMR.PT, BSc, A&S Acupuncture Certification
Janine graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2008 with a Bachelor of Physical Therapy and became certified in acupuncture in 2009. While completing her BSc., Janine spent time in the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory laboratory as an independent studies student looking at brain plasticity related to motor learning which contributed to her ongoing passion for neuroscience. Janine is a physiotherapist in private practice in Winnipeg at Pan Am Rehabilitation Services and an owner/therapist at Dance Physiotherapy Winnipeg, as well as an instructor at Pan Am Rehabilitation Sevices annual symposium. Janine has taken numerous continuing education courses in a wide range of topics including: pain science with the NeuroOrthopedic Institute (NOI) group, manual therapy, exercise and movement impairment systems. Janine is enthusiatic about the use of acupuncture to treat pain in her clinical practice. In 2020, Janine returned back to her love of academics and began a Master's degree with a focus on pain sciences and the use of acupuncture to treat inflammatory pain.
